Star of Marathons



Pheidippides is the star of Marathon history. Pheidippides was a Greek messenger in the battlefield of Greek and Persian marathon. When Greeks defeated to Persian and got victory over Persian Pheidippides was sent to Athens from the battlefield to announce the news of victory. He ran out on marathon and completed the distance of 42.195 kilometres. At that time there were no any safety measures to run like shoes and like other comfortable equipments. When Pheidippides reached to Athens and as soon as delivered the news of victory he died soon. This event had been took place in August or September, 490 BC. After that Pheidippides has given the title of first marathon runner. Now marathon race is included in every national and international game as an integral part. Everest marathon is internationally recognised race in Nepal which is being organised very year.
